ELLIS F. RUSH

BANGOR and ELLSWORTH Ellis F. Rush, died April 12, 2002, in Bangor. He was born in Houlton, Nov. 29, 1926, the oldest child of John H. "Harry" Rush and Kathleen E. (Mahon) Rush. He grew up in Benedicta. In 1944, he graduated from Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton. He operated the family farm in Benedicta until he was 40. He served as a selectman for the Town of Benedicta for many years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He moved his family to the Bangor area, where he worked as a mechanic, welder and truck driver. In 1998, he retired from his potato distribution business and moved to Ellsworth. He was extremely creative and loved to invent and build things. He is survived by his best friend, Doreen Pollack of Ellsworth; one son, Dana and his wife, Lydia of Chula Vista, Calif.; two daughters, Susan of Bangor, and Judy Craig and her husband, Garrel of Brewer; one grandson, Taylor Craig of Brewer; three granddaughters, Lisa-Ann Rush of Baltimore, Md., Danielle Rush of Chula Vista, Calif., and Rachel Craig of Brewer; one sister, Priscilla "Penny" Murphy of Brewer; three brothers, Norman and his wife, Dolly of Brewer, Anthony and his wife, Rose of Benedicta, and Vincent and his wife, Janet of Mattawamkeag; and one sister-in-law, Alice Rush of Bangor. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, one sister, Annette Huntley; and one brother, Gerald Rush, predeceased him. A memorial mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday, at St. John's Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor, with Rev. Gerrard G. Gosselin, pastor, celebrant. A reception will follow in the church hall. Private interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, at a later date. Gifts in his memory may be sent to New Hope Hospice, Inc., Building Fund, P.O. Box 757, Holden, ME 04429.
