Rush Family

John D. Rush born Nov. 27, 1801 Stelle, Germany and died April 1874 in T2R6. He married Sarah Theresa Schmidt. She was born 1812 in Alcase, France and died 09-25-1856 in T2R6.

They married in 1833 in Patterson, NJ.The children of John and Sarah are:

6. Sarah Rush b. 11-14-1840 Benedicta, ME married Alexander MacDonald 05-01-1864. Sarah d. 05-26-1925 in Lewiston.
7. Mary Ann Rush b. 04-07-1842 Benedicta, ME married John Henry Scanlan 05-14-1865. Mary Ann d. 07-10-1925 in Sherman, ME
8.Henry Rush (My great great grandfather) b. Jan. 1845 Benedicta. Henry married Honora Cummings 1876. Henry d. 05-04-1904.

Rush Family Reunion Update


Good Day to you all,

I am currently adding the Duffy, Robinson's in the family. I am still taking all linages from John D. Rush and Sarah T. Schmidt. I have attained multiple obituaries this week and am inputting them today. I will be sending out a newsletter to you all by the 22nd of the month as a friendly reminder. Dorothy Ann Duffy Obituary

DOROTHY ANN DUFFY BANGOR and BENEDICTA - Dorothy Ann Duffy, 76, died June 14, 1993, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Benedicta, May 23, 1917, the daughter of George Patrick and Susan (Brennan) Duffy. Dorothy graduated from St. Benedict's High School and helped operate the family farm in Benedicta for several years. She retired from the Eastern Maine Medical Center. Dorothy was an avid gardener and was well known for her beautiful rose garden. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church,. Survivors include one brother, Eugene Duffy of Woodland Hills, Calif. and Webster, Mass., two sisters, Mary Rush of Bangor and Leona Brewer of Bangor and East Millinocket; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by two special nieces, Judy Craig and Susan Rush. Dorothy was predeceased by three brothers, Vaughn, Gerald and George Charles Duffy; and one sister, Lillian Sawyer. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Foley Funeral Service of Union Street, Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Philip Tracy, celebrant. Committal services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday at the family lot, St. Benedict's Cemetery, Benedicta. BANGOR - Mary F. Rush, 75, died Dec. 3, 1999, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Houlton, Jan. 8, 1924, the daughter of George and Susan (Brennan) Duffy. Mary was a graduate of Benedicta High School and was retired from Phillips-Strickland House of Bangor. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Bangor. Mary loved music and, as a talented pianist, she delighted in sharing her gift with family, friends, and residents at Phillips-Strickland. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed weekend trips with her family. Surviving are one son, Dana E. Rush and his wife, Lydia of Chula Vista, Calif.; two daughters, Susan L. Rush of Bangor and Judy R. Craig and her husband, Garrel of Brewer; four grandchildren, Taylor and Rachel Craig, Lisa and Danielle Rush; one brother, Eugene Duffy of Sun City Center, Fla.; one sister, Leona Brewer of Bangor and East Millinocket; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lillian Sawyer and Dorothy Duffy; and three brothers, Vaughn, Gerald and G. Charles Duffy. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Bangor, at a time to be announced. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. It was Mary's wish that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a scholarship fund established for Taylor and Rachel Craig at Merrill Bank, care of Alena Bonenfant, P.O. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret (Guiggey) Duffy of Sherman; one son, Terry of Sherman; four daughters, Mrs. Sandra Albert and Miss Maria Duffy, both of Sherman; Mrs. Lana Marston of Old Town; Mrs. Mona Craig of Patten; five grandchildren; two brothers, Gene of Woodland Hills, Calif.; Charles of Bangor; four sisters, Mrs. Leona Birmingham, Mrs. Mary Rush, Miss Dorothy Duffy, all of Bangor; Mrs. Lillian Sawyer of Sandwich, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Benedicta with the Rev. Leonard Frenchette officiating. Friends may call at the Bowers Funeral Home in Sherman Mills Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in St. Benedict Cemetery.

VAUGHN M. DUFFY SHERMAN STATION, Dec. 3 - Vaughn M. Duffy, 44, died Wednesday at Sherman Station. Duffy was born in Benedicta March 2, 1914, the son of George and Susan (Brennan) Duffy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Benedicta. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Aida Duffy; a son, Frank of Sherman Station; his father, of Benedicta; three brothers, Charles of Benedicta, Gerald of Sherman and Eugene of Thompsonville, Conn.; four sisters, Miss Dorothy Duffy and Mrs. Mary Rush of Benedicta, Mrs. Lillian Sawyer of Stacyville and Mrs. Leona Burmmingham of Bangor; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be announced.
